(ANTIMEDIA) On Friday evening, U.S. President-elect Mike Pence attended the Broadway hit “Hamilton,” and corporate media has not shut up about it since. After actors in the play “humiliated” Pence by asking him to equally respect everyone’s rights, Trump responded on Twitter by saying the theater should be a “safe and special place” and demanded an apology.
Meanwhile, the world kept spinning, and as usual, the mainstream media conveniently overlooked actual news that affects the world because they were too busy distracting us all with their political TMZ-style “reporting.”
Here is a brief rundown of what they missed:

167 Protesters Injured by Police In Overnight Battle at Standing Rock:

Activists at the scene reported on Twitter that police were spraying protesters with water in sub-freezing temperatures and firing rubber bullets, injuring some in the crowd. A total of 167 demonstrators were injured, according to a medic on site, as cited by Indigenous Rising Media. The police were reportedly targeting demonstrators’ heads and legs.
Seven people have been hospitalized for severe head injuries. Three of those injured are reportedly elders of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe…(Read More Here)

Facebook and Google Ready to Kill Alternative Media for the Government:

[Last] week three media goliaths — Facebook, Google, and Twitter, who collectively act as information gatekeepers for the Internet — announced they would begin implementing censorship practices against news sites they deem misleading.
Websites that publish “fake,” misleading, or even satirical news will now be subject to a sliding scale of infractions that will target ad revenue and social media algorithms. Without ad revenue from monetization platforms like Google Adsense, many of these sites would not be able to continue publishing, and without Facebook’s distribution platform, even sites with good organic reach could find their traffic severely crippled…(Read More Here)

Trump Adviser Cited Japanese Internment for Muslim Policy: What You’re Not Being Told:

Former Navy SEAL Carl Higbie just learned what backlash means — even if what he’s defending is something President Barack Obama has been doing throughout his presidency.
During a conversation with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, the spokesman for the Great America PAC, a pro-President-elect Donald Trump organization, cited Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s internment of Japanese Americans as a precedent for a possible registry of Muslim immigrants…(Read More Here)

Russian Warships Prepare For Large-Scale Assault Off Syrian Coast:

On Saturday, a flotilla of Russian warships arrived off the coast of Syria. The flotilla was reportedly deployed to prepare for a large-scale land and sea assault on the ravaged city of Aleppo.
The flotilla is eight ships strong and led by Moscow’s only aircraft carrier. It is also being accompanied by a nuclear-powered missile cruiser. According to the Syrian website al-Masdar News, which the Telegraph advises is a pro-government source, the battle group is to be deployed to the region for at least six months…(Read More Here)

U.S. Airstrike Kills At Least 10 Civilians In Syria:

In an embarrassing bit of timing, as US officials were railing against the Syrian military for targeting civilians at the UN, US warplanes were attacking a cotton mill in northeastern Syria, an attack that killed at least 10 civilians.
It is unclear why the cotton mill, in the village of Salhiyeh, was targeted in the first place, but it is north of the ISIS capital city of Raqqa, which Kurdish YPG forces are in the process of surrounding. The Kurdish forces are almost exclusively north of the city, which is also the direction civilians are fleeing Raqqa…(Read More Here)
