What It Means To Be Spiritual But Not Religious.

What It Means To Be Spiritual But Not Religious.

growing contingent of Americans—particularly young Americans—identify as “spiritual but not religious.” Masthead member Joy wanted to understand why. On our call with Emma Green, The Atlantic’s religion writer, Joy asked, “What are they looking for?” Because the term “spiritual” can be interpreted in so many different ways, it’s a tough question to answer. I talked to people who have spent a lot of time mulling it over, and came away with some important context for the major shift happening in American faith.

Americans Who Want Faith, Not a Church

Kern Beare, a Masthead member from Mountain View, California, believes in God and studies the teachings of Jesus. But does he identify with a particular religion? “Never,” he told me. The structure and rigidity of a church, Beare believes, is antithetical to everything Jesus represents. Instead of attending services, he meditates every morning.
Americans are leaving organized religion in droves: they disagree with their churches on political issues; they feel restricted by dogma; they’re deserting formal organizations of all kinds. Instead of atheism, however, they’re moving toward an identity captured by the term “spirituality.” Approximately sixty-four million Americans—one in five—identify as “spiritual but not religious,” or SBNR. They, like Beare, reject organized religion but maintain a belief in something larger than themselves. That “something” can range from Jesus to art, music, and poetry. There is often yoga involved.
“The word ‘church’ means you need to put on uncomfortable shoes, sit up straight, and listen to boring, old-fashioned hymns,” said Matthew Hedstrom, a professor of religion at the University of Virginia. “Spirituality is seen as a larger, freer arena to explore big questions.”
Because over 92 percent of religiously-affiliated Americans currently identify as Christian, most “spiritual-but-not-religious” people come from that tradition. The term SBNR took off in the early 2000s, when online dating first became popular. “You had to identify by religion, you had to check a box,” Hedstrom told me. “‘Spiritual-but-not-religious’ became a nice category that said, ‘I’m not some kind of cold-hearted atheist, but I’m not some kind of moralizing, prudish person, either. I’m nice, friendly, and spiritual—but not religious.’”
Religion—often entirely determined by your parents—can be central to how others see you, and how you see yourself. Imagine, Hedstrom proffered, if from the time you were born, your parents told you that you were an Italian-Catholic, living in the Italian-Catholic neighborhood in Philadelphia. “You wouldn’t wake up every morning wondering, who am I, and what should I believe?” That would have already been decided. Young people today, Emma said on our call, “are selecting the kinds of communities that fit their values,” rather than adhering to their parent’s choices.

“Spiritual is also a term that people like to use,” said Kenneth Pargament, a professor who studies the psychology of religion at Bowling Green State University. “It has all of these positive connotations of having a life with meaning, a life with some sacredness to it—you have some depth to who you are as a human being.” As a spiritual person, you’re not blindly accepting a faith passed down from your parents, but you’re also not completely rejecting the possibility of a higher power. Because the term “spiritual,” encompasses so much, it can sometimes be adopted by people most would consider atheists. While the stigma around atheism is generally less intense than it used to be, in certain communities, Hedstrom told me, “to say you’re an atheist is still to say you hate puppies.” It’s a taboo that can understandably put atheists, many of whom see their views as warm and open-minded, on the defensive. “Spiritual” doesn’t come with that kind of baggage.
For people who have struggled with faith, embracing the word “spiritual” might also leave a crucial door open. Masthead member Hugh calls himself “spiritual,” but sees the designation as more of a hope or a wish than a true faith. “I hope there is more to this wonderful world than random chemistry… Nonetheless, I do see all of that as an illusion…That does not stop me from seeking something as close to what I wish for as I am able to find.” In his class, “Spirituality in America,” Hedstrom tells his students that the “spiritual-but-not-religious” designation is about “seeking,” rather than “dwelling:” searching for something you believe in, rather than accepting something that, while comfortable and familiar, doesn’t feel quite right. In the process of traveling around, reading books, and experimenting with new rituals, he says, “you can find your identity out there.”

A TIME OF HOPE

A TIME OF HOPE

P'taah.

Light Source.

Through Jani King

February 2020

Light Source Ptaah

Q: P’taah can you please say a few words to us about what we perceive as these very troubling times we’re living in? We seem to be at a crisis point, at least all the politicians are telling us so, and running out of time to help our planet, you know we have these terrible climate changes with fire and floods over lots of our planet, and extinction of species and pollution of our waters, I wonder if you could say a few words to us about these things?
P’taah: Firstly we would like to say this: much of what you are hearing and much of what you are comprehending, in fact, is not necessarily what you would call news, but rather being dictated to, how you should think. Now, by this we mean you are being, in a way, forced to come to very fearful conclusions, to have fearful reaction to what you are hearing, what you are seeing on your news, etcetera, what you are reading, and as fear takes hold you are forgetting the bigger picture.
Certainly we would say there are many truths coming to the surface now, coming to being disclosed, about behaviour of politicians making choices, in a way, to make money rather than what is for the benefit of the planet, of each country, of all of the people upon the planet, and of course about wildlife etcetera, all of these things that you have been worrying about.
Now, these things are what is occurring, however there is a bigger picture, there is opportunity for change. It is, in a way, a time for peoples to take back the power of populace, power to change law, opportunity to change the way things are done in each country.
Also it is to remember that the Earth herself is going through change which have nothing to do with human interference. This is a natural cycle, that which is of global warming and ice ages and various, what you would term, catastrophes, but really are simply ways that the Earth has of balancing herself.
Also to remember that everything is always perfect! Now this is most difficult when you are looking, what we would say, down the barrel of the gun! Everything is always perfect, in truth, nothing is lost. This is really looking at things outside the square, outside the box of consciousness which is normal for your peoples.
So there is indeed cause for concern. Also let us speak about the disasters in the country of Australia, and indeed much grief, much hardship, etcetera. However, also coming from this is the fact that humans are coming to humans to support, to nurture, to assist, coming from love, coming from a place in the heart, coming from the idea of nurturing, of healing, coming together to assist wildlife.
In this country also fire is a natural way of regeneration, not on the scale which have been experienced in these last months, but certainly that is the nature of the country, in a much smaller way.
So to look at this idea of peoples coming to assist peoples, coming to assist from all over the world, in this disaster, this catastrophe. And then to rise above that and to look at the overall picture and how this have touched the hearts and souls of peoples all over your globe. And in other countries, as we say, truths are coming to the surface, peoples are learning that they must take power to create change and transformation.
It is a time of hope rather than a time of despair, to know that everything, in a way, is going according to plan.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from beautiful New Zealand! I have escaped the February heat in Cairns and am visiting friends and family in the North and South Islands of NZ.

Along with the joy and fun of catching up with some beloved ones, there has also been the sorrow of learning about the passing of others - it certainly brings to one's attention P'taah's reminder that we 'only have now' to be all that we can be.

We only have now to pay attention, to grasp the opportunity, to BE the love.

So, along with my morning Thank Yous, I am reminding myself to be NOW!

Religion, the biggest cover up in human history...

THE BIGGEST COVER UP IN HISTORY, IS THE COVER UP OF OUR HISTORY!

The religious institutions have been set up by the same people that set up your financial, government and educational institutions. It's all lies!

Religion can never reform mankind cause religion is slavery. Anything that asks you to worship them is asking you to be subservient. Very dangerous. Only the truth can prepare us for the lie that's coming. Remember, those who control the past control the future. But, mankind is going thru a massive Awakening and the truth is surfacing and being revealed and only those that can see thru the illusion and all the lies will have an easy time with what's coming.

Those that are fighting it and still holding onto the false reality and beliefs thru the programming that has been forced down our throats by a deceptive society will have a hell of a shock and will be thrown into a mental fork in the road. I believe some will flow with it and some will not. It's time to open your minds to a whole new reality because our world is not what you think it is!

On an ordinary day

On an ordinary day the world will be turned upside down, on an ordinary day which people would go about their business the clouds will fall from the sky and it will rain fire, on an ordinary day when the people have their eyes fixed to the ground the sky will open and the impossible will begin to unfold.

The divine announcement of thousands of years will be announced and nothing will be the same in the evening as it was in the morning. On an ordinary day in space time the forces of Light will come out and will be made visible to all who see and audible to all who hear. This will be the reality to those who are already vibrationally open.

On an ordinary day the media will still spread lies, the financial mob and politicians will twist it all. You will hear a Heavenly sound that will put an end to all the chaos. It will come so fast even those that are prepared will freeze.

On an ordinary day the World change will happen and all the underground facilities and safe guards put in place to save the Elite will not be reached.

On an ordinary day the Earth will be covered in silence and the people of Inner Earth will take over for a short period of time until the enlightened, inter-dimensional beings of space appear. A holographic, blissful reality will begin.

On an ordinary day the Worlds will split in two, never seen by a human or experienced by any living being on Earth. On an ordinary day the birds will fall from the sky and mountain chains that have never been seen before will begin to appear from the oceans.

On an ordinary day the Guardians of Earth and the Masters of many worlds, angels, archangels of creation will show in the sky. Many people will be suspicious because many will not be able to distinguish between the Light from the shadow realms.

On an ordinary day the veil between the Worlds will be lifted and everyone will find themselves exactly where they chose to be. Time will be bent and discarded until the timeless being is achieved.

On an ordinary day all TV stations will be reporting on this Event. The Airwaves will be taken over by the Light and deceptive agendas will be squashed and the lies of the rulers will be told and in that moment the chaff will be separated from the wheat.

On an ordinary day the unprepared, the ones who resisted will be frozen in fear pleading for help to understand this Event, this is why many of you are here. You are the ones who chose to step forward with the Guardians of the Worlds.

On an ordinary day everything will end which you knew so far and for those who neither trust nor serve the Light everything will remain the same. Those who are just mindless slaves to the Dark forces will continue the reality of slow dying. Meaning, they will remain and continue to live in a 3D vibration.

On an ordinary day you who are ready shall Ascend and be expected by Heaven. (5D) Many of you will go through a rebirth, resurrection will be accomplished for you who have voted for the Light. It is time for us to become the masters in our own house.

Unconditional Love

P'taah.

Light Source.

Through Jani King

January 2020

Light Source Ptaah

Q: P’taah a friend asked me, What is unconditional love? And how does it work?

P’taah: All right, that is a very good one because what you call love, very often, we would not call love, eh? You know, love is simply another name for goddess/god. Love is the building block of existence. Love is whole and complete within itself, and requires no return.

So you may say that when you express love, and you express love which requires no return, you are expressing the goddess/god-ness of you.

When it comes with conditions, that is a different thing altogether. That does not mean that you cannot love somebody, or care deeply. But, you know, in the truest love and appreciation, and awe and wonderment simply at the wholeness of love, you get an idea of what is unconditional love, hmm? And our desire for each of you is that you will know unconditional love for who you are, as a perfect expression of goddess/god.

When you think about who you are, you very often edit who you think you are because much of who you think you are does not, in a way, come up to standard, is not good enough. And you think of what you would call the not so nice bits, or the bad bits for some of you, or the things that you have said and done and thought that were certainly not of love.

And so you will not acknowledge, you will not embrace. But when you understand that all of those, what you would call negative aspects, were simply born out of fear that you were not enough, then indeed you can open your heart, you can look honestly at who you are, acknowledge it, and acknowledge the fear that created these thoughts and actions which were not as whole as you would have wanted.

And be in the understanding that all of this, all of this, comes from that small portion of you which has forgotten the truth of you: that you are perfect, that you are eternal, and that you are the most wondrous expression of goddess/god.

And when you can look at who you are and love that expression of goddess/god that you are, then indeed you are coming to really understand unconditional love.

Q: Choosing physical reality was a tough thing to do wasn’t it?

P’taah: Oh indeed, indeed, and as one beloved friend said, you know, this be-ing in physicality is not for sissies! (laughter)

Hi Everyone,

Here’s wishing you all a creative and fulfilling 2020.

While many of us are giving thanks for a peaceful new year, our hearts and prayers go out to those battling loss and grief and the horror of a burning countryside.

P’taah has spoken of the multi dimensional aspect of this catastrophe and the opportunity it affords not only the people of Australia, but for the entire planet. The opportunity for new beginnings and the casting out of avarice and greed. The opportunity for people everywhere to come together in peace and unity, to create

in loving, honouring and respectful relationship with each other and with the Goddess Earth Herself.

Although most of us are unable to give physical assistance to those in need, P’taah reminds us of our power to create support through conscious thought and through love.

I’m looking forward very much to catching up with many of you in person this year, both here in Australia and of course during the retreats in Turkey.

Heart knowledge

P'taah.

Light Source.

Through Jani King

December 2019

Light Source Ptaah

Q: P’taah I have been in a period of deep gratitude for a number of weeks, in part this is because of hearing a message of yours when you talked about transmutation, and this has fascinated me always, but what I heard as though for the first time was I am to say thank you not only for every incident in my life but also every person involved. I don’t think it’s the only time you have said it but it was an eye opener and has had an immediate effect on me. Is this what you mean by heart knowledge instead of head knowledge?

P’taah: Indeed it is Beloved. You see, in a way, as we have said many times before, the head, the mind, really was designed to be a servant of the heart, because, indeed, the heart stuff is soul expression. So when you can, in a way, put aside that which are the old judgements, the old conditionings, the old learnings, and listen to the heart, indeed there is great wisdom to be garnered.

Of course as you go through your life, being that you are simply a band of energy, in a way, a band of electromagnetic energy, you draw to you the peoples and the situations which reflect to you what you believe about who you are in this existence.

Now, the people are no less a component than the situation, so when we say to give forth the thanks for everything that has occurred, it is also every person that you have drawn to you because no matter how you may judge the situations and the peoples, the truth is each have been opportunity for you to learn and to grow, and everything that you have experienced, every person, every situation, has brought you to this now moment, to this understanding, to this opportunity to expand in your understanding, in your consciousness and also, of course, in your heart.

So the thanks and the gratitude in this respect is important, to acknowledge that even that which you have found unlovable, even that which you have found cataclysmic, that which you have found devastating, all of this has brought you to this now, to this choice point, and the very fact that you have a choice in every moment how you will Be, not even what you will do, although what you will do of course will be in accordance to how you are Be-ing.

So the more that you can Be in this resonance of thanks and gratitude, the more open the heart, the more receptive you are to Soul’s energy, to your own goddess/god-ness, so that you may indeed create your heaven on earth.

Q: All right, is that what you’re saying when you say “Take your head off”?

P’taah: In a way it is, yes indeed. Usually we say those words when we are speaking of allowing yourself to feel, and allowing yourself to feel without the judgement, and especially if you are judging that feeling to be negative.

Q: Yes, well right now all my life seems to be evolving for my benefit! Perhaps it always has

P’taah: Of course!

Q: But I didn’t recognise it (laughs)

P’taah: Of course it has really, and that is surely the point of wisdom, when you understand that all of it, everything, has been for your benefit.

Q: Well, saying thank you, and feeling it, and thank you for everything, seems to be a powerful key, leaving out nothing in the thanks. You’ve often said how powerful we are, is this our power? That we can create what we want, like harmony and happiness, by saying thanks and being thankful?

P’taah: Yes, yes it is.

Hi Everyone,

I guess most of you are gearing up for the holiday season.  For those of us in the southern hemisphere it's summer holidays and, of course, the Summer Solstice.  We commiserate with those of you in the North - rug up, keep warm and enjoy some winter frolicking!

Here at Light Source P'taah we're busy planning next year's events and I'm really looking forward to catching up with some of you face to face in physicality.
In Australia there will be two events early in the year:

- on Saturday 4 April 2020 one day of Q&A with P'taah at Oak Beach Dreaming, just north of Cairns on the tropical coast.
You can find more information here: https://ptaah.com.au/whats-coming-up/
or email ptaah@ptaah.com.au

Later in the year we'll be doing a week long P'taah Retreat in southern Turkey on the glorious Mediterranean coast, but more about that later ...

So whether you're rugging up or stripping down, have a wonderful holiday season!

The Four Noble Truths in Buddhism and What They Can Teach You

By Valerie Soleil.

learning-mind.com.

Posted December 20th, 2019.

The Four Noble Truths can be traced back to the teaching of Buddha, in fact, it is the main principle of Buddhism. Buddha was the first one to realize these truths and from there he spread the word to his followers. To understand Buddhism is to understand these truths.

Studying the Four Noble truths brings a level of knowledge that not many people can grasp. It takes patience and hard work to truly know these guidelines. It is essential we do not simply read these truths; we need to understand and live them in our everyday lives.

The Four Noble Truths

First Noble Truth

The First Noble Truth is dukkha orsuffering. However, it is not exactly easy to sum up. Dukkha can mean different things to different people. There isn’t an exact translation in the English language, which makes it difficult to pinpoint.

Many people have different ideas on what dukkha means. Most can agree that it incorporates feelings of stress, pain, loss, anxiety, dissatisfaction, and unhappiness. Since the term is so broad, it is important to fully understand this first noble truth in order to address it in your own personal life.

Essentially, dukkha is those lingering feelings of unhappiness, whether it be from stress, grief or other. Every single in the person in the world is affected by this sensation at one time or another.

Dukkha is a part of life and unfortunately, there is no way around it. The four noble truths aren’t about eliminating dukkha all together, but rather learning to manage it so you minimize your suffering.

When the Buddha introduced this truth, he did not want his followers to simply read it and move on, he wanted them to really sit and contemplate the existence of dukkha.

  • Why does it exist?
  • What purpose does it serve?
  • Is there meaning to it?

Most people don’t like to question this because they think that contemplating suffering will make them unhappy. But this is quite the opposite actually. The suffering will usually pass; however, it can be an opportunity to truly know yourself in times of grief which ultimately will give you a better understanding of the self.

There are many ways to experience dukkha. The obvious ways are through grief, anger, sadness or pain. It’s not until we really start to examine ourselves that we realize dukkha comes in many subtle forms; illness, envy, ageing, and small heartbreaks.

Many suffer from a sense of longing, perhaps for a better lover, body, or more money. This has just as much effect on us over time. It’s just not as obvious to our minds since our lives are filled with constant distractions. All of which are usually tied in with the source of suffering in the first place.

Second Noble Truth
The Second Noble Truth is the truth of the cause of dukkha or suffering. Suffering doesn’t just appear out of thin air, there are causes and conditions for every action. It is important to have a good understanding of the Buddhist principle of Karma in order to go further. If you are not familiar with the belief, please study these laws before reading any further.

The Buddha teaches that there are Three Poisons of the mind that we need to bring attention too. This will help you fully understand the Second Noble Truth.

The Three Poisons are:

  • Confusion
  • Cravings
  • Aversions

Any source of dukkha is manifested through one of these. We either live in the past by trying to hold on to a pleasant experience. Or we live in the future by idealizing a situation that hasn’t happened yet. Or we become deluded and detached from our current reality over an unpleasant situation.

We all crave something; it is human nature. We want to fit in, we want to be successful, we want a great love. While this is almost impossible to avoid, it is important to examine these thoughts as they pass by so that we don’t attach feelings of happiness to them.

When we desire something, we build up a fantasy situation in our head and when that situation doesn’t happen, we feel a strong sense of unhappiness and loss for something that never existed in the first place. This can cause so much suffering when left unchecked and most of the time people don’t even realize they are doing this.

Another cause of dukkha is the inability to comprehend these thought patterns. We know we feel sadness and stress but are not able to explain where it came from. Perhaps you are simply trying to have a positive outlook on life so you dream of better things to come. But in reality, that can sometimes hinder your mental health when your realities don’t line up with the thoughts in your head.

Third Noble Truth
Now before we start feeling down about our inevitable thought patterns, there is hope! The third Noble Truth teaches us the solution to dukkha or at least gives us hope for a cure. This Truth teaches us the cessation of suffering or dukkha.

Essentially, the solution to dukkha is to stop clinging to ideas and false realities. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, not exactly. One cannot simply will themselves to stop longing, it is impossible and will not work. You need to be able to fully let these feelings pass while being aware that they are happening and examine the source of them.

It’s important to understand that these cravings do not satisfy us, but rather they just lead to disappointment. If you can fully understand this, the sense of longing should be able to pass any importance.

The Third Noble Truth is an easy one to miss, indulging in fantasies (good or bad) comes as second nature to most and the point isn’t to eliminate these thoughts. These thoughts can be beneficial and are important for living a good life. If no one cared or looked to the future, it would be very hard to find the motivation to work toward life goals.

The point of the Third Truth is to recognize where these cravings come from. To really understand where the thoughts come from and not place feelings of happiness or unhappiness on those thoughts. They should be able to flow through your mind like water. This is the key to reaching enlightenment, becoming the master of your own mind. Situations are inevitable, it’s how you react to them that matters.
Fourth Noble Truth
The last and final Noble Truth is breaking the cycle of dukkha. If you can do this, you can truly reach Nirvana. Of course, this is much easier said than done. It takes entire lifetimes to fully understand and live these truths. It is a matter of living each moment in a state of mindfulness. You must commit to this path and walk it for your entire life, it must come as second nature.

The Fourth Noble Truth is the understanding that our thoughts shape our reality. You must be able to clear your mind, de-attach any feelings to thoughts, and walk the path of enlightenment. It will be very difficult at first and might not be achievable in this lifetime.

Essentially, you are re-training your mind and entire thought process. Not an easy thing to do. But eventually, it will become easier by developing a strong mind, solid virtues and gaining new wisdom as often as possible.
Final Thoughts

These ancient teachings are still very relevant today. We all have the power within us to walk this path and achieve enlightenment with a lot of hard work and discipline.

What Is Perennial Philosophy and How It Can Open Your Mind

Alexander Nyland

https://www.learning-mind.com/

November 27th, 2019.

Perennial philosophy is a strand of philosophical thought prevalent in culture since the Renaissance. It became popularised in the 20th century where these ideas became widespread across academia and society.

Perennial philosophy is a viewpoint that provides an interesting outlook on the practice of many religious faiths. It is a source of valuable insight for some, whether this is understanding or grappling with the varying religious teachings that inhabit our communities.

However, before we explore how this philosophy can influence our attitude towards these matters, we must first be clear on what exactly Perennial Philosophy is. Once we have done this, we will be able to examine what the criticisms of this theory may look like. Only then can we see how it may broaden our perspective on Religion and belief systems in society for the better.

What is Perennial Philosophy?

You might think that the phrase Perennial Philosophy is complex. However, it is relatively simple to understand. Perennial Philosophy is an idea that recognises all of the world’s religious, spiritual and wisdom traditions as sharing one singular universal truth and ideal.

All of these traditions are, in the end, premised upon this same foundational truth. They are all trying to make sense of the same thing.

These ideas started to emerge in the Renaissance. However, they became widespread in the 20th century by the English writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley. Renaissance thinkers began the groundwork for these ideas after drawing upon Plato’s theory of forms. These minds used this Platonic theory to develop certain ideas:
  • There is an inherent, latent unity in the world.
  • This unity is found in many established practices.
  • It is not limited, nor is it unique to just one such tradition.

These Renaissance beliefs fully came to the fore in the 20th century through Aldous Huxley. Here the ideas became more developed, advanced and widespread within society. Huxley popularised the theory. In fact, he explains it in his book The Perennial Philosophy (1945):

“…the metaphysic that recognises a divine Reality substantial to the world of things and lives and minds; the psychology that finds in the soul something similar to, or even identical to, divine reality; the ethic that places man’s final end in the knowledge of the immanent and transcendent ground of all being; the thing is immemorial and universal” Aldous Huxley.

But what do Huxley’s words mean? Huxley goes into more depth about the subject in his book. He posits that all religious traditions centre towards one same ‘divine reality‘. It is how we understand it and our place within it that is important.

It is true that religions and spiritual traditions can contrast greatly in their teachings and form. Yet, they are all attempting to decipher the purpose of human life. They are providing guidance for the same thing – the search for meaning in life.

Criticisms of Perennial Philosophy

It is now worth taking a look at the criticisms of these ideas. Then we can examine how these ideas can open our minds and influence our perspective on these matters.

Religions are in conflict with each other

There are some criticisms of Perennial Philosophy that claim that it is an unrealistic and unworkable theory. A primary concern is an argument that many world religions are in conflict and have been throughout history. How can religions share a universal truth if they are so at odds with each other?

Religious beliefs vary so much

Furthermore, many religions differ so greatly in their ethics, beliefs, principles and teachings. As a result, it may become increasingly difficult to see how they can all share one ‘divine’, universal and shared ideal. Therefore, Perennial Philosophy runs the risk of not receiving merit. Particularly if they are not consistent with each other in these teachings.

But do these differences and dissimilarities matter? It is surely inevitable that such practices will have glaring differences and distinctions. Consider the very varied cultures that they were born from? The historical factors that they play into their belief system? Not to mention the different spiritual teachings that they espouse to their followers.

These criticisms and the issues they expose indeed hold the potential to threaten the dismantling of this theory. However, it does not mean that we should write it off altogether.

Perhaps the universal truth shared by all religions still prevails even in the face of these conflicts and contrasting philosophies. It’s certainly possible that each belief system is premised on this singular reality. It could be that they just express it in varying ways or point towards it in a different manner.

Nevertheless, regardless of whether you are fully convinced by it or not, Perennial Philosophy does have some useful ideas. These ideas can not only broaden our perspective but can also be hugely beneficial to us in these perspectives.

How Perennial Philosophy can open our minds

This is the singular idea that all religions are based on the same universal truth. Moreover, they have all grown from this same truth. This is something that we can all use positively.

Religious Beliefs

Religion is an entity that provides moral and spiritual guidance to its followers to help them live their lives. They are essentially providing purpose to people’s lives or at least trying to navigate us towards some sort of purpose.

Perennial Philosophy helps to push past conflicting beliefs and the disharmony of separate religious doctrines. Consequently, it exposes a fundamental yearning that we all innately share – the search for meaning and purpose.

We Are All the Same

This allows us to perceive the world’s religions beyond warring factions pitted against each other as separate institutions. It edifies our minds to push past the boundaries that can separate us.

In effect, it provides some sort of reassurance that we are all fundamentally the same. We are all beings trying to answer the questions of our existence. Even though we may be taking different paths to find these answers.

Spiritual Paths

You can push the theory of Perennial Philosophy beyond Religion. Some of us may not choose to follow Religion. It may not be the source we look to for fulfilment. You may be an atheist and turn to other means of guidance.

There perhaps are multitudes of sources and doctrines that one may draw from. All in an attempt to garner the purpose that we all seek. A universal truth of being, purpose and meaning is surely something that can bind us all together.

It can be comforting to know, whatever we follow, we are all, perhaps unknowingly, all searching for the same thing. We all experience times of loneliness, unhappiness and confusion in our lives. This philosophy is an antidote for such states. The idea that essentially, we are all beings struggling to find the answers to the same questions.

Final Thoughts

Perennial Philosophy can open our minds to our shared existence and the commonalities that we have within it. It helps us to form a more optimistic vision of the world. And this may prove critical and liberating during hard times.

Co-creating for Harmony and Balance

P'taah.

Light Source.

Through Jani King

November 2019

Light Source Ptaah

Welcome from Jani

Hi Everyone!

It's great to be able to say 'Welcome back!' to all of you very patient subscribers, and to welcome those of you who are new subscribers to P'taah e-News.

Annie, here in Cairns, has been working very hard to get our Australian administration up and running and what an amazing job she is doing. Nelly is kept busy in Malta organising the Conversation with P'taah sessions and ably assisting in general, wherever needed.

I want to thank them and thank all friends of P'taah for your support, in the knowing that where there is love there can be no separation.

With every blessing

If you'd like to participate in a Conversation with P'taah, or if you have a burning question (or just a curiosity question) you'd like her to ask for you - please email Nelly at lightsourcemalta@gmail.com.

CwP October 2019 - Burning Questions with Nelly

Track 1. Connection After Death
The personality of the one who has passed is still available, in a way - we may be still and listen and feel that person to be with us.
Each of our lifetimes is occurring simultaneously and each is connected to a larger consciousness, or oversoul - yet each lifetime has it's own integrity.
Remember that love is a connecting rod, love is all-encompassing.
It is all right if we hear something but do not 'get it' straight away. We all need to come to our own 'Aha!' moment.

Track 2. Thanks & gratitudes, Co-creation
The Thank-you prayer - who are we saying 'thank you' to?
Putting ourselves in touch with a feeling of appreciation, and aligning ourselves with Universal Consciousness
All of this is simply about how does it feel?
Co-creation, picturing how it works - consciousness is made up of many layers, and different groups of consciousness overlap each other like umbrellas.
We are each a body of electro-magnetic frequency drawing to ourselves things of like frequency as we go about our day to day living, weaving patterns of interaction with other people.
Anybody who has an emotional reaction to a situation is part of its co-creation.

Track 3. Child abuse, No judgement, Being vulnerable
In spite of the horror of child abuse there is no judgement
Someone who has experienced child abuse may find love, and may teach others about this experience.
Perpetrators have also been so-called victims, and have to come to a recognition of their emotional reaction to that experience.
All things not based on love will be revealed – child abuse may seem like an 'epidemic', not because there is more of it, but because more is being revealed, and as the truth is revealed, so the collective consciousness is changed.
Being afraid to be one's self: feeling shame. 'If I show you who I am you cannot love me, because I do not love myself!'
Understanding that we all have fear, and vulnerability is our greatest strength.

Track 4. Judgement, Children, Relationships
"You are loving yourself when you are not in judgement of others"
Using one's judgement vs. being in judgement.
Stating the truth - with compassion, without separation.
Whatever negative judgement we have about someone else is also who we are - one way or another.
Children coming forth now with a 'knowing' unprecedented for millennia.
How can we enhance our relationships? Communication! Allowance. We do not have to believe the same things.
Hearing the art of the heart: Be now! Be in awe & wonderment! Say thank you! Be aware! And dance through all your days in this fashion!

(Many thanks to Ravenna for providing CwP synopses.)

November 2019 Message from P'taah

Co-creating for Harmony and Balance

This month's message is taken from the latest Conversation with P'taah - we hope it is of assistance in this time of anxiety around events on our beloved planet Earth.

Q: We’re becoming increasingly aware of the damage we’ve caused the planet and that climate change is happening much faster than we anticipated, the pollution and the effect it’s having, and the dying out of various strands of sentient beings on the planet. How can we best think of this in terms of allowing the Universe to do what is required for balance and harmony?

P’taah: Yes, that is important, what is required for balance, for harmony. All right, so the first thing is that it behoves each one of you to do whatever you can, in your day to day living, to assist the cessation of this pollution. That is the first thing. To be very clear about the desire in your heart to see a thriving planet. Of course one of the greatest pollutions of your planet, you may say, is humanity!

However, the pollution is in the mind of humanity, in the greed, in the disregard, etcetera, etcetera. However, the planet of course is a powerful, powerful goddess and, whether or not there is pollution, she go through great changes of her own to maintain her health, if you like. Now, if humanity will put its mind to changing this rate of pollution, to, if you like, cleaning up the planet, then what is allowed to occur is that the planetary natural changes shall be less devastating.

You all, as a body of consciousness, create your own reality, co-create it with the Goddess, with Earth herself. It requires clarity: What does humanity want? And not only in the selfish idea of saving humanities, but in the love of Earth herself – in the love of Earth herself – that requires clarity within the mind and heart of humanity. And then, with the clarity, with the fervent desire to create change for the greatest benefit of the Earth and everything that exist upon and within, so these changes may be creating wondrousness, instead of creating devastation.

All that you can do, each of you, is work with love and the Earth in your day to day life, giving forth the thanks and doing whatever you may to reduce the imprint, what we would say, step lightly upon your Earth, and hold clearly in your mind and heart the desire for a pristine planet. Because the larger number of you have no power alone to create the change, together you can change anything, you can create whatever you want.

Q: How can we tip the balance against governments that are just selling whatever, you know, the money makers and where the greed comes in, and things that we can’t seem to do anything about or have any effect on? How can we really tip the balance against all that?

P’taah: By holding on to the knowing, and being clear about what you desire. You do not actually need to know how. In a way, Beloved, it is likened unto, how do you create your day to day reality? The fact is that you do not really know how, you only know that it works! And the more that you know that it works the more it is, and the more that it does work, for your benefit. Does that make, at all, any sense to you?

Q: Yes, well in the sense that I know that I create it, and I see that I create it by the thoughts that I have.

P’taah: And most important, the feelings attached to those thoughts.

Q: Often I find my feelings do not coincide with my thoughts. My thought might be that if I give thanks for it I’ll create it, but in my feeling I might be in fear: what if I don’t?

P’taah: Yes well you see that is exactly what impedes your grand creativity: the fear that you are not enough to create it, to create what you desire, to create what is for your greatest benefit, and to create for your planet what is the greatest benefit. This is what we mean by clarity: to be very clear about what it is that you desire, and to feel what that creation means to you. Because when you think of a joyous planet, when you think of no pollution, when you think of the flourishing of your flora and fauna, what feeling does it give you?

When you give thanks in your daily life for what you have, how does it feel? How does it really feel? This is why we say it is to be mindful, not just to say thank you by rote, but really to be present, to say thank you for the food, to really appreciate the food that you eat, the beauty that surrounds you, your comfort, not only your physical comfort, but the comfort of your friendships, of your loves, of your relationships, all of the things, to actually feel how wonderful it is. And it is this incredible energy!

Also, you know, there is something that each of you can do who live near water, to in a way sing your thanks to the water so the water can carry that energy throughout your planet, spreading the love, spreading the joy!

And so, no matter how it seems, each of you is powerful, each of you is the co-creator of your reality, and so it is by being present, and being mindful, and giving forth your thanks and gratitudes that you create change, because the Universe listens! Your Earth listens, every plant, every bird, every butterfly, every wild creature knows!

Chaos is necessary...

by Teri Wade.

facebook.com/teri.wade.1610.

Posted November 9th, 2019.

We are witnessing chaos, hate and confusion in the United States and all over the world right now. President Trump has implemented many changes in his first few years that has brought about fear in many people and has made a major division that’s very apparent in our country.

But, what if all is going on is a good thing? What if it’s the beginning of a whole new way of living? A rebirth of a new Era?

So many say to me how can you support a guy that doesn’t give a shit about anybody, a guy that is dividing our country like never before. I hear people from other countries dissing him and his America first approach. But, these people are still seeing it from the 3-D human perspective.

What I mean is the human race is so programmed in living in duality that they don’t realize they have a third perspective. It’s either I don’t like him or you do you like him. What about looking at what Trump is doing with a neutral perspective?

We need to look at what he’s doing with an energetic perspective, a higher perspective, a Universal perspective. What we are experiencing now is an exact blueprint of a Spiritual Awakening of a nation. The United States is the first nation to go through this as a western society and will lead this process covering the whole planet.

We need to remember chaos is good because chaos is necessary to change a system. So, in order to get to chaos you first have to build fear on our 3rd dimensional level. Fear is not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just an energetic vibration that we experience with our 3rd dimensional bodies. It only gets dangerous when our ego interprets it as something bad and dark.

Really, what fear does is it accelerates action to immediately initiate change. What the fight or flight response was meant for is to build up energy quickly for survival to get a crystal clear outlook on what to do in a life and death situation. This is why some animals play dead to save themselves, really what they’re doing is changing the situation. So the energetic vibration of fear is a great catalyst to bring about change.

So instead of looking at this change that Trump is stirring up as fearful, we need to look at it as everything is being calibrated to a higher level. Meaning, fear is necessary for this change and remember fear is the lowest frequency so it’s only up from here on.

A rigid system cannot sustain itself forever. This rigid system of oppression, control and authority was always going to break down and we are in the cusp of that break down as we speak.

Many of us are realizing that fear and chaos is a catalyst to rise to a higher vibration. So, if we react to this change with fear we’re going to go thru the same spirals again and again and we’re going to have to go through the same lessons over and over. It’s wake up time!

We are now in what some call the “Change Curve” and everyone will go through this curve. Some will flow and some will resist it just depends on their ability to embrace uncertainty. Like the saying goes...”intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”

When people are faced with change on such a massive scale such as what’s happening in the United States they go through stages and a big one is...
Denial - How can Trump be our President, how did this happen, omg our world is gonna end.
Anger - Realizing what happened is real and it cannot be denied any longer and oh boy are we seeing anger. They’re lashing out because they are being pushed out of their comfort zone.
Bargaining - Coming to the realization that they are going to have to bargain and come to a compromise
Depression - Sometimes called the “valley of despair.” Some people pull back not wanting to talk to anyone.
Acceptance - This phase happens when there is an undeniable realization of the facts and truth and an inevitable path towards the future. Coming to the acceptance of “I can’t fight it so I might as well prepare for it.”
I don’t think we are at this point yet in America. 🥴

So really what I just explained here is the path of a Spiritual Awakening... Denial, the shock of finding out the horror, ugliness and truth about the world we live in. We experience Anger because it just pisses us off what has been done to our species and the planet as a whole. We start then Bargaining with ourselves trying to make sense of what we are learning. Some go through a Depression “The Dark Night of the Soul.” We eventually get to Acceptance excepting what has been done to us and our world and we start wanting change. This is what’s happening in the United States and what’s happening in the United States will create a ripple effect throughout all creation.

---------

Our planet is in extreme danger like no other time in our species history. We are seeing the clash of two Ages. Pisces (control and oppression) to Aquarius (enlightenment and liberation) it’s literally a conflict between the Light and the Dark. It's all vibrational.

All of you still stuck in any belief system, social and religious dogma need to wake up. The deception the church preaches has all been designed by the Archons. They are who you indirectly pray to in your Temples of Deception. Religion is all mind control. Period!

We are souls having a brief physical human experience in a low density Matrix created by the Dark, rebelling against Prime Creator. Catholicism is rooted in the Dark occult rituals.
The cross mocks a false satanic sacrifice of Jesus (Light) The Eucharist symbolizes cannibalism. The Eucharist... is the Christian ceremony commemorating the Last Supper, in which bread and wine are consecrated and consumed. Bread being the flesh and wine being the blood of man. Gehenna (referred to as Hell) was a place of child sacrifice in Jerusalem, a destination of the wicked, a place of fiery torment.

We are in the time of the Apocalypse meaning the unveiling. Again, nothing is what we’ve been told, be prepared to be either completely amazed or shocked beyond comprehension because it’s coming. Jesus referred to this time as...”If you live by the sword, you will die by the sword and the meek shall inherit the Earth.” It’s time to clean house and that’s what’s happening.

There is a Universal Ascension process taking place and it’s up to you as an individual to ascend. You evolve from within at your soul level, your physical body is just a vessel to experience this reality. No one gets a free pass because you cannot lie to yourself.

----------

Original Sin is a mind game the religions of the world play on our psyche. Making you feel less than and in need of guidance from an outside source. It’s all a brilliantly designed strategy to control the masses. All organized religions are forms of madness...

Ascension recap...

by Teri Wade.

facebook.com/teri.wade.1610.

Posted November 4th, 2019.

In this Universe everything is energy and that is a fact. It means we are living in a timeless and space-less energy that manifests itself as you, me, trees, birds, every soul, the stars, the planet and all that exists in the Multiverse. Everything is one and EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED!

Everything is interdependent because nothing can exist in an isolated state without a purpose, a reason to be there. We need food to grow, but the food needs us for it to be grown etc. Living in this third dimensional existence is tough. If our planet was too close to the sun it would be too hot, if our planet was too far from the sun it would be too cold either way life could not sustain itself. But, we can say that everything is as it should be and everyone is placed where they are meant to be, where they choose to be. Everything is in divine order even if it appears incredibly chaotic.

Out of chaos exists a level of order to give birth to necessary events. Think about the death of a star into a Supernova. A gigantic explosion of pieces of gas, molecules and matter thrown into the cosmos with no apparent order. Meaning, a new generation of stars can be created by the same bricks, shall we say, composed by the original star and those same bricks are the bricks that make up the atoms of our bodies. So, was that explosion chaos or was it divine order? On one level it was chaos but on the highest level it was order.

Everything is designed under mathematical rules, everything is perfect in its individual expression. We give labels and names because we experience life through a 3-D reality. We separate the individual from the oneness, the interconnectedness we all are.

This happens because when we incarnate on a 3-D planet such as Earth meaning its denseness and duality we have to lower our frequency so much in order to exist in such a physical environment. We are multi-dimensional beings whether we are aware of it or not!

We exist on many dimensions at the same time and we operate in each one of them under specific rules. Our “higher self” which is pure energy would disintegrate our human vessel because our human vessel could not sustain that extremely high frequency. So, what I’m getting at here is the Ascension process our physical bodies are going through are feeling these physical symptoms brought on by these higher Ascension energies.

We are raising our frequency higher and higher and as a consequence we are making the impossible possible because now with this Ascension process our physical bodies are being able to sustain these higher frequencies which are bringing in incredible abilities, awareness and insight. We can now operate in a wider spectrum of reality.

As you raise your vibration you can access new portions of reality. This is why the third eye is so emphasized throughout our world and the spiritual community. Two eyes = symbol of duality, right and left brain hemispheres, male and female, the third eye is unification, perception beyond duality, higher awareness and divine wisdom.

Our DNA is morphing being brought on by these higher energies we are receiving from our Central Sun. A fully functioning human being as originally designed and created had 12 fully functioning strands of DNA. We were once a being that was one with Light, God in our ancient times.

Through DNA manipulation we were made into an unconscious race easy to control by a very sinister and service to self Dark agenda. This being called “God” by organized religions is divine pure Light and of the highest frequency which is love. The human race is an emotional race and as this Ascension process ramps up we as a species cannot be controlled any longer. God or Light is not only all that exists but it also is everything that doesn’t exist.

Religion preaches separation meaning you’re separate from this “Light” and that’s all an illusion. This is how they control the human species. They have you looking outward when it’s always been inside. Once you receive this higher light the unconscious becomes conscious, the asleep becomes awake.

Remember, darkness is just the absence of light. Once these energies start flowing and our awareness starts to heighten darkness remembers itself as Light hence, our Awakening. We will all eventually become one with the Light.

Completion of Evolution! 🙌🏼

Religion in U.S. ‘worth more than Google and Apple combined’ ~ Harriet Sherwood.

(Organised) Religion in US ‘worth more than Google and Apple combined’.

By Harriet Sherwood.

Posted June 24, 2019 by Edward Morgan.

Faith is worth $1.2 trilions a year – more than combined revenues of 10 biggest tech firms in America

.
The largely tax-free religion industry is one of the biggest in America, worth $1.2 trillion/year, a number that includes religious “healthcare facilities, schools, daycare and charities; media; businesses with faith backgrounds; the kosher and halal food markets; social and philanthropic programmes; and staff and overheads for congregations.” (Photo: Lakewood interior, ToBeDaniel, CC-BY)

Religion in the United States is worth $1.2tn a year, making it equivalent to the 15th largest national economy in the world, according to a study.
The faith economy has a higher value than the combined revenues of the top 10 technology companies in the US, including Apple, Amazon and Google, says the analysis from Georgetown University in Washington DC.
The Socioeconomic Contributions of Religion to American Society: An Empirical Analysis calculated the $1.2tn figure by estimating the value of religious institutions, including healthcare facilities, schools, daycare and charities; media; businesses with faith backgrounds; the kosher and halal food markets; social and philanthropic programmes; and staff and overheads for congregations.
Co-author Brian Grim said it was a conservative estimate. More than 344,000 congregations across the US collectively employ hundreds of thousands of staff and buy billions of dollars worth of goods and services.
More than 150 million Americans, almost half the population, are members of faith congregations, according to the report. Although numbers are declining, the sums spent by religious organisations on social programmes have tripled in the past 15 years, to $9bn.
Twenty of the top 50 charities in the US are faith-based, with a combined operating revenue of $45.3bn.
The report points to analysis by the Pew Research Centre which shows that two-thirds of highly religious adults had donated money, time or goods to the poor in the previous week, compared with 41% of adults who said they were not highly religious.
Grim and his co-author Melissa Grim of the Newseum Institute in Washington came up with three estimates of the worth of US religion. The lowest, at $378bn, took into account only the revenues of faith-based organisations. The middle estimate, $1.2tn, included an estimate of the market value of goods and services provided by religious organisations and the contributions of businesses with religious roots.
The top estimate was based on the household incomes of religiously affiliated Americans, and placed the value of faith to US society at $4.8tn annually.
The analysis did not take account of the value of financial or physical assets held by religious groups. Neither did it account for “the negative impacts that occur in some religious communities, including … such things as the abuse of children by some clergy, cases of fraud, and the possibility of being recruitment sites for violent extremism”.
However, it concluded, “the faith sector is undoubtedly a significant component of the overall American economy, impacting and involving the lives of the majority of the US population”.

4 Ways Social Conditioning Secretly Affects Your Behaviors and Decisions ~ Janey Davies.

4 Ways Social Conditioning Secretly Affects Your Behaviors and Decisions.

By Janey Davies.

May 15th, 2019.

We all like to think we have free will and make our own decisions in life, but in actual fact, we are programmed at an early age by social conditioning.
Social conditioning is a set of rules and behavior dictated to us by society. It’s very easy to see how we as individuals can be conditioned in this way.
No one wants to stand out when they are younger. We all want to fit in. If you are different, you are bullied, ridiculed and ostracised from popular groups.
We soon learn to fall in line with whatever everyone is doing, saying, wearing, wanting, even believing. So how does it start and who conditions us?
“The things you read will fashion you by slowly conditioning your mind.” A.W. Tozer
The thing is, this kind of conditioning begins as soon as we are born. Parents immediately reinforce gender differences. Parents tell girls to behave in a quiet and polite manner and boys must not cry.
Teachers take on the baton and steer boys towards scientific subjects such as maths and physics. On the other hand, girls are pushed to creative topics. Our newly qualified graduates head out into the workplace.
Adverts bombard them with messages on what to wear, what to look like and who they should like. This constant drip-feeding of nudging and reinforcing the right responses actually affects our behavior without us really knowing.

Examples of conditioning by society:

  • Models have to be thin in the fashion industry.
  • Pink for a girl, blue for a boy.
  • Nurses are female.
  • Money buys you happiness.
  • We have to get our protein from meat.

So how does social conditioning affect our behavior?

Language

Language instantly jolts our unconscious mind. For instance, what do you immediately think of when you read the word immigrants?
For some people, their initial thoughts might center on closing the borders, the country is full up, a lack of resources, or there’s too many of them for us to cope with.
For others, the word immigrants may suggest qualified doctors and nurses, ex-pats living abroad, EU nationals, foreign students, or NHS workers.
Depending on the type of media you watch or read will color your view of immigrants. For example, typically, right-wing media depicts most immigrants in a negative light.

People

The homeless; responsible for their own fate or in need of help from society? Some people have very strong ideas about how you can end up living on the streets. They think that it would never happen to them and, therefore, it must be the fault of the homeless person.
How did they come up with that belief? Were their parents particularly critical of homeless people? Statistically, we are all three pay cheques away from losing our homes and ending up with nowhere to live. It could happen to many of us, so why do some believe it is purely down to the individual and not the situation?
Society has been telling us for decades that hard work and effort are all we need to succeed in life. So it’s easy for us to blame the person rather than the longstanding message that everyone else believes and follows.

Religion

You cannot mention conditioning of any kind, social or otherwise, without talking about religion. I’m guessing that whatever religion you belong to or believe in as an adult, you learned about it when you were a child.
When we are children, we believe what our parents and teachers tell us. Because we are so young when this information is first absorbed, it is extremely difficult to dismiss it as incorrect when we are older.
You see similar examples with the retelling of major war battles in history lessons. Countries will favor their side of the story when it comes to educating children on the exploits of battle outcomes and actions of generals, even prime ministers.
Whole nations are outraged decades later when their respected war heroes are then revealed to be less than perfect.

Social Media

Does the life you present on social media have any resemblance to the life you actually lead? The selfies you have carefully crafted, spending hours choosing just the right one that shows you at your best.
Or deliberating over a post that isn’t too self-righteous but shows how devastated you are over the latest world tragedy (after all, it does affect you personally).
We are conditioned now to look our best, say the right things and at least appear to be loving life like never before. However, in reality, more and more men are committing suicide, teenagers are being bullied to death and children as young as 6 are worried they are too fat.
Social media is a portal into our lives, but we are faking this insight because the life we are leading doesn’t live up to social expectations.

So what can you do to break free from conditioning?

  • Don’t be afraid to question or confront people about their behavior.
  • If you see something you don’t agree with – say so.
  • Don’t surround yourself with like-minded people. You’ll only reinforce your own views.
  • Watch media from different sources. If you only ever read one newspaper, switch to another.
  • Do your own thing! Live by your own rules. So what if you don’t earn a lot of money? Do what makes you happy!
  • Finally, recognize when your behaviors or beliefs are a result of social conditioning and work to change them.
As the Indian teacher of meditation S. N. Goenka advises:
“Removing old conditionings from the mind and training the mind to be more equaimous with every experience is the first step toward enabling one to experience true happiness.”

25 Profound Little Prince Quotes Every Deep Thinker Will Appreciate ~ Kirstie Pursey.

25 Profound Little Prince Quotes Every Deep Thinker Will Appreciate.

By Kirstie Pursey

May 7th, 2019.

The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is a children’s story with some very profound meanings and some quotes that will really make you think.

I have to admit that I never read the Little Prince as a child.

I think I wouldn’t have known what to make of it if I did. Even reading it as an adult I didn’t know what to make of it!
However, it is clear that The Little Prince touches on some very deep themes about the nature of life, love, friendship and more. The following Little Prince quotes show just how many philosophical themes are discussed in this small, but profound work.
The story tells of a pilot who crashes into the Sahara desert. He is attempting to fix his damaged plane when a little boy appears as if from nowhere and demands that he draws him a sheep. Thus begins a strange, enigmatic friendship that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
The Little Prince, it turns out, comes from a small asteroid where he is the only living being apart from a rather demanding rose bush. The Little Prince decides to leave his home and visit other planets to find knowledge.
The story tells of these encounters with rulers of strange worlds and de Saint-Exupéry has opportunities to demonstrate some philosophical themes that will make readers think.
On earth, as well as meeting the pilot, The Little price meets a Fox and  Snake. The fox helps him to truly understand the rose and the snake offers him a way to return to his home planet.
But his return journey comes at a high price. The book’s bittersweet ending is both thought-provoking and emotional. I would definitely recommend that you read The Little Prince if you haven’t already.
It is one of the most beautiful and profound children’s books there are. If you have older children, then you might like to read it with them as it can be a little overwhelming for them to read alone.

In the meantime, here are some of the best and most thought-provoking Little Prince quotes:

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.”
“All grown-ups were once children… but only a few of them remember it.”
“Well, I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.”
“Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.”
“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.”
“It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom.”
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”
“I am who I am and I have the need to be.”
“No one is ever satisfied where he is.”
“One day, I watched the sun setting forty-four times……You know…when one is so terribly sad, one loves sunsets.”
“People where you live, the little prince said, grow five thousand roses in one garden… Yet they don’t find what they’re looking for… And yet what they’re looking for could be found in a single rose.”
“But the conceited man did not hear him. Conceited people never hear anything but praise.”
“What matters most are the simple pleasures so abundant that we can all enjoy them…Happiness doesn’t lie in the objects we gather around us. To find it, all we need to do is open our eyes.”
“Where are the people?” resumed the little prince at last. “It’s a little lonely in the desert…” “It is lonely when you’re among people, too,” said the snake.”
“What makes the desert beautiful,’ said the little prince, ‘is that somewhere it hides a well…”
“For me, you are only a little boy just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you have no need of me, either. For you, I’m only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, we’ll need each other. You’ll be the only boy in the world for me and I’ll be the only fox in the world for you.”
“To forget a friend is sad. Not everyone has had a friend.”
“Only the children know what they are looking for.”
“Sometimes, there is no harm in putting off a piece of work until another day.”
“I should have judged her according to her actions, not her words.”
“Nevertheless he is the only one of them all who does not seem to me ridiculous. Perhaps that is because he is thinking of something else besides himself.”
“The one thing I love in life is to sleep.”
“The machine does not isolate man from the great problems of nature but plunges him more deeply into them.”
“And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me.”

Closing thoughts

I hope you have enjoyed these Little Prince quotes. Admittedly, they are sometimes difficult to fathom at first. However, like many things in life, the more you think about them, the more they begin to make sense.
This is not an easy book to read and the bittersweet ending may leave you feeling a little heartbroken. However, the book offers so many insights into the human condition that it is well worth the time spent thinking about the philosophical ideas contained between the covers.

We’d love to hear your favourite quotes from the Little Prince. Please share them with us in the comments below.

Mind-Blowing Statistics About Christianity You Need to Know.

As a religion, Christianity has been around for millennia. It has changed and transformed throughout time – both in terms of the principles and beliefs, the range of denominations it is comprised of and the number of religious believers across the globe.
Amongst all worldly religions, Christianity remains the most widely practiced. There are more fascinating statistics than just the number of religious believers, however, and it is these mind-blowing figures that we’ll be examining in the following article.

2.4 Billion People Are Christians

Christianity certainly isn’t the only prevalent religion in the world, but it might come as a shock to learn that, amidst Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and all other major religious schools, Christianity is by far the most popular.
Global assessments conducted in 2012 revealed that the precise figures pertaining to  the most-followed world religions were:

Graphic Statistics
Quite clearly, Christianity exceeds the other four major religious/non-religious bodies by a significant proportion of 0.6 billion – overtaking Islam in number of followers by an astounding 9.1% of the global population.
The figures have varied throughout history, though, and the number and spread of Christians worldwide has changed dramatically in the past century alone.

Changes in Christian Populations Throughout History

According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, there were only an estimated 600 million Christians worldwide in 1910. This figure has increased enormously in more recent years, with an estimated 2.2 billion Christian followers recorded in 2010.
The research center also predicts that Christianity will remain the world’s largest religion for the next four decades if these trends continue, with a projected 2.9 billion people practicing Christianity worldwide by 2050 and exceeding 3 billion thereafter.
Christianity is expected to remain the largest religious group throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa, too, with more than 50% of each respective population practicing Christianity.
The marked spread of Christianity across non-Western countries has significantly altered the distribution of Christians throughout the planet. During the 1900s, Christian faith was most prevalent throughout Europe and the Americas – claiming around 93% of the the entire global Christian population. In 2010, however, only 26% of the global Christian population was located in Europe, with 24.4% Latin America and the Caribbean and 12.3% in North America – a combined total of 62.7%. With the increase in the number of followers of Christianity in the past century has come a significant shift in their geographic distribution.
Protestantism, in particular, has spread swiftly throughout the continents of Africa, Asia, and Oceania since the early 1900s. A lot of this growth occurred after World War II, during which Africa was decolonized and the strong restrictions against the practicing or Protestantism worldwide were abolished.
Modern-day Christians are spread more thinly across a number of different countries, whereas previously they were concentrated into smaller areas. Let’s take a look at how the spread of the Christian population has changed geographically in the past century.

There Are More Christians in America Than Any Other Continent

While Christian populations were primarily located in Europe and the Americas in the 20th-century, today Christian faith has spread itself worldwide. A comparison of the precise numbers and locations from 1910 to 2010, as recorded by the Pew Research Center, can be seen in the tables below.

Global Distribution of Practicing Christians in 1910

% of Global Christian Population
When looking at the data, it’s clear to see that the distribution of Christian followers worldwide has shifted quite significantly in the past the short timeframe of 100 years. Whereas previously Europe far-exceeded all other regions in terms of their Christian population, since 2010, the Americas have taken the lead by far.
In areas like Asia-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa, Christian populations have increased more than tenfold, with Sub-Saharan Africa trailing closely behind Europe. Part of the reason for this is the abolition of anti-Protestant laws that governed Africa during the 20th-century, as well the abandoning of a number of other secular laws worldwide.
Each year, Christianity gains around 65 million more followers due to a range of different factors, including birth rate, religious conversion, and migration. Conversely, 27.4 million Christians are lost annually due to factors including death rate, immigration, and apostasy, or loss/renunciation of belief.
Geographically, the net growth in Christian populations has been most prevalent in Africa, Latin America and Asia. By 2050, it is predicted that Christianity will remain the majority religion in the US, growing in number from 243 million to 262 million.
One study conducted in 2018 by the Pew Research Center shows that Christianity is still the largest religion across all of Western Europe, with 71% of the population identifying as Christians. Interestingly, the same study showed that the vast majority of individuals raised as Christians remained Christian so later in life.
Christianity has also spread throughout countries such as South Korea which aren’t shown in the table above. South Korea has seen a dramatic increase in Christians between 1945 and 2010, moving from 2.0% to 29.3%.

Pentecostalism is the Fastest-Growing Religion in the World

Although less prevalent in popular culture and news when compared to major denominations such as Catholicism and Church of England, Pentecostalism has been shown to be the fastest-growing religion worldwide, according to a 2005 paper.
Pentecostalism is a form of Christianity that emphasizes the importance of the Holy Spirit and the direct experience of the presence of God by the believer. It holds that faith should be experiential rather than something discovered only through rituals and scripture. Members of the Pentecostalist church believe their actions to be driven by the power of God.
The underlying belief behind Pentecostalism is that their movement is returning Christianity to its simplest form – that which has the most in common with the early stages of the Christian church. Perhaps it is for this reason that Pentecostalism is growing so rapidly in popularity, as modern denominations like Catholicism have moved far away from their old traditions in an attempt to modernize Christian doctrine.

Protestantism

The Protestant church, which gives utmost authority to the Bible and believes that any other source of scriptural truth detracts from the sanctity of the Bible, has also seen a boom in numbers in recent years.
This is thought to be a result of religious conversion throughout Asia, Latin America, Oceania, and the Muslim world. In Vietnam alone, Protestantism has grown by an astounding 600% in the past 10 years alone.
An estimated 37% of Christian believers belong to the Protestant faith, which has since been redefined to include Anglican (Church of England) followers and members of independent/nondenominational churches.

Catholicism

In 2013, the number of followers of the Catholic Church was 1.253 billion – comprising 17.7% of the global population. This is a dramatic increase from the figured in 1950, wherein only 437 million people followed Catholicism and 654 million in 1970. The most significant areas of growth have been in Asia and Africa.
Pope Francis Africa
In 2010, Catholics were reported to comprise around half of all Christians.

Other Denominations

The Orthodox Communion, which includes Greek and Russian Orthodox, made up 12% of all Christians while other groups, including Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons, made up only 1%.

10.2 Million Muslims Have Converted to Christianity

A number of different studies and reports estimate that many more people have converted from Islam to Christianity during the 21st century than any other point throughout the history of Islam. Oftentimes, Muslims that convert to Christianity face the risks of social rejection and even imprisonment and murder in more radical states. Regardless, one global census suggests that 10.2 million Muslims have converted to Christianity worldwide – most significantly in countries such as France, Germany, Indonesia, Turkey, and Belgium.
Throughout the 1900s, more than 250,000 Jewish people were seen to convert to Christianity. The Pew Research Center holds that around 16 millionAmerican Jews identify themselves as Christian – specifically Protestants. The same study suggests that of the Jews who identify as Christians, most of these were raised as Jewish.
Interestingly, some reports show that the number of young people becoming Christians is also on the rise across several different countries. Conversion is also increasing amongst Korean, Chinese, Japanese and American individuals, moving from faiths like Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism to Christian denominations in spite of the risk of persecution.
It is clear that, although the movement of the Western world seems to be directed towards more secular ideologies, Christianity is as prevalent now as ever, growing at an increasingly rapid rate in other areas of the world. Things seem to be a little different in Europe, however.

Christian Populations in Europe Are on the Decline

As of 2012, 2.4 billion Christians were reported worldwide, representing one in every three people worldwide. This makes Christianity the world’s largest religion.
Approximately one-quarter of the global Christian population was found to be in Europe, comprising 26% of worldwide believers, with a further quarter in Latin Amerca and the Caribbean and another in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Between now and 2050, the regional and geographical distribution of Christians is predicted to undergo further changes. It’s projected that Europe will hold only 16% of the global Christian population by then.

Facts and Statistics About the Bible

Holy Bible
As well as Christianity itself, there are a number of fascinating truths and statistics surrounding the literary crux of the Christian faith, the Bible. Some of these are listed in bullet points below.
  • The Bible can be read aloud in 70 hours.
  • There are 8,674 various Hebrew words scattered throughout the King James Version of the Bible, as well as 5,624 Greek words and 12,143 English words.
  • The approximate number of Bibles sold, given away or distributed in the United States every day is 168,000, according to statistics from Wycliffe International, Gideons International, and the International Bible Society.
  • The bestselling and fastest-growing translation of the Bible in the United States is the King James Version.
  • 20 million Bibles are sold worldwide in the United States alone.
  • 92% of Americans own at least one Bible, whether as a gift or a purchase, but only 12% read it daily.
  • There are 40 authors of the Bible.
  • The Bible is excluded from bestselling book lists because it would always rank the highest, with the average American owning 9 Bibles.

Bible Sales Earn More Than $400 Million Every Year

It is clear that the Bible is immensely popular worldwide, matching the statistics which indicate that Christianity is the most-followed global religion. Across the planet, Bible sales bring in an estimated $425 in revenue annually.
Over 100 million copies of the Bible are printed every single year, with religious believers and consumers in the United States purchase an average of 25% of those books. Interestingly, the Bible also holds a record for as being one of the least-sold books, with a translation of the New Testament into Coptic selling only 2 copies in any year since 1971.
Although some of the more esoteric translations of Biblical texts generate far fewer sales than those such as the King James Version, there are more than 80,000 different translations, each selling at least one copy per year and many selling exponentially more.

The Growing Popularity of Digital Bible Resources

As well as physical copies, digital Bible resources have also soared in popularity since their introduction in the past 50 years. YouVersion, for example, a top-downloaded app for mobile services, has received over 100 million downloads and counting. It’s been amongst the top-100 free iTunes apps for 3 consecutive years.
Furthermore, over 60,000 people have been recorded to be using a Bible app at any given moment, with three people every second sharing some form of Biblical quote or verse to their social media outlets. Isaiah 41:10 is one of the most popular Biblical verses online, according to YouVersion.
Digital Bible
77% of people claim that mobile services have enabled them to read the Bible more frequently, and perhaps this is part of the reason for the rapid growth in Christian followers in recent years. Two-thirds of people also state that they prefer bible apps because these give them access to multiple versions of the Bible without added costs. It’s clear that Bible-reading apps are rapidly transforming the way people are accessing and reading Scripture.
Although Bible sales have been steadily increasing for many years now, not all purchasers of Scripture are as knowledgeable in the text as their actions might have us believe. Brandon Gaille cites a Gallup poll stating that less than 50% can name the first book of the Bible, and only 1 in 3 people is aware that Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. Amidst all Americans that possess a Bible, only 12% are said to read it every day.
Regardless, the religion continues to grow at record speeds. Whether believers are as committed to their faith as the numbers might suggest, there’s no doubt that the number of people that identify themselves as Christian is on the rise.

Conclusion

When looking at the range of fascinating statistics surrounding both historic and contemporary Christianity, it becomes clear that even where Western culture may appear to be becoming more and more secular, Christian faith is still very much alive and kicking.
With more than 2 billion believers worldwide, Christians make up almost a quarter of the entire global population – far more than any other religion.
As digital Bible-reading sources begin to become more and more accessible and religious education more prevalent, it is predicted that Christianity will continue to grow at an ever-increasing rate. It’s sure to hold its title as the most widely-practiced religion globally for many years to come.
