Greetings, friends! We are very pleased to have this moment to speak with you today.
We speak to you each week from the perspective of your being on an Earth that changes by the hour in terms of vibration and the resulting new reality you are molding.
This you create with your words, your intentions, your visions and feelings about life, and how things are going for your beautiful Lady Gaia, and your expectations of how life shall continue on this planet.
We speak often of your increasing empowerment as you realize your presence as co-Creators, for it has long been your training to look at outer circumstances and feel that that is what determines the quality of your life—the content and experience of it.
Yet we assure you, friends, nothing could be further from the truth
You are far more than observers of and reactors to What Is, and yet—yes, it is also a gift, to move into Observer mode when you wish to create some distance, particularly emotional distance between you and what you see happening outwardly.
We are asking you to understand that the amount of higher assistance flowing to you now is astounding and unprecedented.
And that that is not a matter of “rescue,” but a matter of your and Gaia’s increasingly ability to hold a higher vibration.
This in turn opens many more energetic portals for Ascension, for freedom from old constraints, and for an end to the current machinations of those who would discourage or end that progression.
You are no one’s minion, as we have said many times.
You are lord and lady masters of that which is, and is yet to be.
As you step out of Time and into the higher realms in your meditation time, you know it to be so.
You begin to remember more and more Who you are and why you have come in at this time which appears to have fallen into chaos and loss.
Take this moment, this blank canvas you face now, and create as you will, guided by your own soul and higher self, and the very high, refined, beautiful notes of clarity, new life, and rebirth being sung in the higher realms by every Light being “holding space” now for Earth’s renewal and Ascension.
The reason you are seeing or hearing of increasing numbers of ships in the sky, is due to an increase in movement by those benevolent galactic friends assisting Earth’s beings, and moving to protect those held under various forms of density by the old regime.
As you look up at the sky, hopeful to see the ship of an old friend or family member, know that you are already visiting with them in your nightly travels, during your sleep state.
And that you already know deep down how they are assisting and why, and that they have no intention of letting Earth (or you) fall through any cracks in the façade, as the old forms crumble so that new ones may be birthed.
You are already becoming those beautiful beings you have dreamt of, have prayed for, have believed in and envisioned.
Move to the next step, and co-Create your own Joy, your own refusal to be discouraged now, as you move into greater heights of awareness and manifestation ability.
Yes, this is a demanding time to be on the planet, and yes—it is the time you have been waiting for.

This week’s guidance from the Ascended Masters, Galactics, Earth Elementals, Faery Elders, Angelic legions, and Archangels known as the Collective:



Greetings, friends! We are very pleased to have this opportunity to speak with you today.
We are aware that even more news has appeared on the horizon since we last spoke with you, and that therefore, more misgivings, uncertainty, and general unsureness has arisen in the hearts and minds of many, as they wonder what may become of them, their loved ones, their community, their country, their planet..
Please know that many, many more intergalactic beings and Earth-raised humans are working to resolve humanity’s dilemma than you could ever imagine.
You are not being abandoned to a dense and difficult fate, with uncertainty as your daily bread until some final axe drops.
Nor are you being “rescued.”
We do not offer scenarios of complete rescue, but of assistance that not interfere with your free will.
You did not come to Earth to passively accept yet again someone else’s word that you are safe, only to be once again ruled by authoritarians while your own inner power lies dormant and unseen, except on rare occasions.
Nor do we offer a scenario of complete abandonment, in which your situation is unnoticed or uncared about.
You yourself have come to anchor NESARA in place, and you are doing so daily — holding space, as they say, for those forms of Light and higher Wisdom, empowerment, and sovereignty that are co-Creating a New Earth.
An Earth in which each comes into his or her own power, rather than constantly looking to another to provide leadership and “answers” that turn out not to be answers after all.
 
We wish for you to image daily your own and others’ Ascension, release from the old order, and reclaiming of your own Light Being, Divine self.
 
We wish for you to spend more time in Nature and in meditation than in watching “the news” and filling your heart-mind with inaccuracies, mental programming, and narrow definitions of which lives are worth saving, and why.

We wish for you to inquire every day what your higher self wishes to tell you, and that you would listen and be open to absorbing the energies of that message, even if you cannot inwardly hear the words of it.
And we would wish for you to realize you came in at this time not to stress or to worry, but to move into the high heart, and to remain there.
 
To assist you in that journey, we have created a new video to help you move energetically into a more relaxed and centered state.
 
This is Who you are now, dear ones! Co-Creators of a world you can as yet only relate to in your co-creative visualizations, your high heart, your memory of the higher dimensions.

Yes, you have all of that, and more.
We bow to your courage, your inner strength, and your power to overcome the end of an experiment in duality that has gone further than any envisioned.
And so now — stand up! Claim your place in the New Earth you are building.
All is well.

Nature consists of a complex system of energetic patterns which facilitates the flow of energy on and in the planet. Everything is connected by these energy flows and any disruption to them can cause major environmental changes, which will affect all of life on Earth. Our energetic bodies are intimately connected, via the elements, to the energy flows in nature. Our emotional body is connected to Water, our physical body to Earth, our mental body to Air and our spiritual body to the Sun. This deep energetic connection means that we experience a sympathetic response to any damage done to the Earth. In this modern world it has become easy to forget our connection and our dependance on nature. To forget the interconnectedness of all of life on Earth. As a result we have forgotten that the Earth is a living, sacred being and we have lost track of who we are and why we are here.

This is a time of cleansing and purification which is ushering in a new era of unity and connection. It is a time that is pregnant with potential. Your purpose now is to make way for the new by rooting yourself in the Earth and surrendering your need to control. Allow the exhausted paradigms of the past to fade away and heed your soul's call for transition and transformation. Connect with the elements in nature to shift your energy, reawaken your creativity and renew yourself. Trust in nature's medicine to teach you how to direct, build, weave and sustain your life.

What an Introvert’s Dream Job Is Like

 

This Couple Left It All Behind to Become Lighthouse Keepers.

Being an introvert, I understand those who move to remote places. Here, I find rare instances to be totally alone. All my past jobs required me to be surrounded by people, some I liked okay, but some were a challenge. Social situations, school, and even at home, also proved to be pretty difficult. So imagine, leaving it all behind you and moving to some faraway place where you rarely see other human beings. To me, that sounds amazing.
The perfect getaway
 
Guess what? That’s just what this one couple did. Taylor Stevens, 31 and Jesse Siebler, 32, obviously introverts, found a way to live a peaceful life free of many modern-day distractions.
 
 
In an advertisement, there was a need for a pair of people to watch over a lighthouse on Maatsuyker Island, located in Australia on the most southern mass of land, or the continental shelf. Out of all the 1000 other people trying to get away from society, or just trying to be a big help, the couple won the prize – a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
 
But it wasn’t a permanent change in the scenery. It was only to be a 6-month stint where the couple would watch over the maintenance of the lighthouse, and then return home. But there was always much to be done, and not much time to think about leaving one day. They cleaned, observed the weather, watched for whales, and even did a bit of electrical work to keep the lighthouse running effectively.
 
A fresh coat of paint was also needed, and if you think of the size of the lighthouse, that’s a huge job all in itself. The couple reported to their duties at 6 and 9 a.m. every morning. Let’s just say, to get up that early, they must have loved it.
The harsh weather
 
It wasn’t all flowers and sunshine, however, the crashing waves kept them on their feet, or sometimes flat of their back when a storm crashed against the walls of the lighthouse. For 250 days of the year, the days were filled with rain, bestial winds, and the lack of sunshine. You’d wonder how they made it. But together, with emotional support for each other, they “weathered the storm”.

The beauty was inspiring
 
 
Although the main role for the couple was to make sure mother nature didn’t engulf the lighthouse and surrounding buildings, they found other aspects that inspired them as well. One of the most interesting and beautiful qualities were the many birds, more than a million of white-tailed shearwaters which were constantly making thrilling noises.

It sounds like a happy ending right there, doesn’t it? Well, after the 6 months was over, the couple realized they were to return to city life. They were crushed because they had grown to love everything about living in the remote area. Although there were only a few sunny days, the ones they got made the view from the lighthouse captivating. But it was over…until.
 
The couple was contacted by another couple living on Three Hummock Island in Tasmania. The couple had been there for 9 years running a state reserve, but they were ready for a change. This meant someone else had to take their place. Taylor and Jesse were thrilled to take over the position to operate an island state reserve.
 
 
So, in fact, this story does have a happy ending. With that being said, I hope all of us introverts have the opportunity to find our place like this couple and find a way to be happy in this ever-growing and ever-changing world.

6 Unexpected Ways to Relieve Stress, According to Science

Stress seems to be just a part of life these days. Whether it’s at work or at home, or on the commute between the two, stress can be unavoidable. A little stress is natural, but when it weighs on us heavily, it can be dangerous for our health. High stress increases our susceptibility to all sorts of dangerous health conditions. Knowing the best ways to relieve stress can be lifesaving.

Sometimes, when the usual techniques aren’t enough, you have to try some more unexpected ways to relieve that stress.

Unexpected Ways to Relieve Stress

Put on A Fake Smile


It seems there is some science behind the idea that you can “fake it ‘til you make it”. Smiling is a way to relieve stress and it works by convincing your body that you aren’t stressed at all. When you smile, you create the face shapes we naturally make when we’re happy. When you’re faking it, you trick your brain into reducing your stress levels. While it’s not recommended to hide your feelings, sometimes, you just have to get through it.

This study has proven that when we smile through stressful situations the intensity of our stress response will reduce. It is especially beneficial for our cardiovascular systems, including the heart. In this particular study, they also tested different kinds of smiles. They showed that full-face smiles, known as a Duchenne smile, are an even more beneficial way to relieve stress.

Some scientists also explain that our brains are wired for socializing. Mirror neurons in our brains make us want to recreate what other people do. This means what if we see another smile, we want to do it too. We can use our smile as a way of relieving the stress of others. By flashing someone a bright smile and letting them do it back, you might be helping them through a tough time.
Look at Fractals

Our brains love soothing patterns, but did you know they were a great, and rather unexpected, way to relieve stress? A fractal is a pattern that repeats identically or at least similarly. These could be created in paintings or drawings, like a mandala. Fractals can also be seen in nature, in places such as leaves, snowflakes, and seashells.

A number of studies have been done by tracking eye movements and using fMRI scans to show our biological response to fractals. They’ve proven that simply looking at fractals is a good way to relieve stress and can even reduce it by up to 60%.

There’s still some confusion about why this relieves stress, but some scientists suggest it should be due to the subconscious concentration that they require, or the repetition involved. Repetition is a great way to relieve stress naturally.


Use Your Thumbs
Unexpected is definitely the operative word. You can actually use your thumbs to relieve your stress. Doctors believe that if you put your thumb in your mouth and seal it, then blow, you can calm yourself down.

The theory goes that this will activate your Vagus Nerve, which is connected to your nervous system, responsible for the stress response. By blowing out in this way, you can reduce your heart rate and blood pressure, which are both heavily affected by stress. This way to relieve stress can even help to treat mild mood disorders.

If you aren’t in a position to put your whole thumb in your mouth, there is also a way to relieve stress by simply blowing on it. Your thumb has its own pulse, so by cooling it down, you can slow your heart rate and feel calmer.

Even eastern medicine has a way to relieve stress using your thumb. Apply pressure, using your thumb, on the side of your middle finger. Do this right at the base of your finger, where it meets your knuckle. This method is said to activate a nerve which loosens the muscles around the heart, helping you to relax.

Chew Gum

There have been countless studies done that show that chewing gum is a great way to relieve stress. The researched showed reduced stress, fatigue, anxiety, and depression in the participants. These studies involved collecting data and samples from volunteers, including saliva, before and after they took on stressful tasks, with and without chewing gum. The results showed measurable differences in their stress levels.

Ancient societies are also known to have chewed as a way to relieve stress. The Mayans and the Greeks would chew tree sap.
Do Some Chores

Deep down, we all know that procrastinating only creates more stress, but it doesn’t stop us from doing it. Research has now shown that putting off tasks is bad for our health! Cleaning, in particular, can be a great way to relieve stress. This study recommends washing dishes. Despite finding it hard to motivate ourselves to do it, once we start cleaning, our stress levels do decrease rapidly.

Scientists believe this could be down to the repetitive nature of the movements that cleaning requires. When we repeat an easy action over and over again, we start to do it on autopilot, allowing our minds to switch off and rest.

Sometimes, the world can seem a little out of control. Scientists have suggested that cleaning and organizing our own spaces can help us to feel some element of control. Finding a sense of control is a good way to relieve stress.

Be Near Plants


We all know that being in nature is a great way to relieve stress, but studies show that simply being in the presence of a plant is good enough. A study carried out at Washington State University proved that having plants around makes workers more productive and feel more focused on their work. They even recorded participants’ blood pressure lowering in the presence of plants.

Studies have shown that employees’ attendance rates rose when plants were introduced to the workplace and they often report feeling that the space was larger.

A study has also been carried out into the effects of plants on hospital patients’ healing. The presence of plants in a medical environment improves patients’ well-being and does help to speed up recovery. Even seeing photos of plants relieve stress.

Scientists have theorized that plants are a way to relieve stress because of their association with fractals and their ability to improve air quality.

How to Overcome Mental Blocks with These 3 Science-Backed Strategies

Mental blocks are stressful and sometimes painful things to experience and quite hard to overcome. When you have a mental block, your own brain is preventing the recall of memories or your ability to understand something.

Remember your school days. Did you ever feel like no matter how many times the teacher explained something, you just couldn’t get it into your mind? What about trying to recall information you previously knew, but now can’t seem to find the memory in your brain at all? These are both examples of mental blocks. Writer’s block is also a type of mental block which is difficult to overcome.

Mental blocks can be caused by a deep lack of focus, such as that caused in times of great stress. They can also be the result of repression. When we’ve experienced traumas and events in our past we wouldn’t like to think about, our psyche’s shove it down deep for us, so we never have to be reminded of the difficulties. This makes it very difficult to remember correctly if one day we want to, turning it into a mental black.

Overcoming mental blocks can be challenging to say the least – but not impossible. Scientists have spent years researching how to overcome mental blocks and have come up with several, science-backed strategies for you.


3 Strategies to Overcome Mental Blocks


Nature
As it turns out, our Mothers were right all along. Going outside does make us feel better and help us overcome mental blocks. Many studies have been done over the years into the theory that we can overcome mental blocks by spending time in nature.

One study in particular, from the University of Stanford in California, has proven what we often assumed. These studies were based on a theory that was published in the 1980s. Attention Restoration Theory (ART) is the theory that nature can restore all kinds of memories and focus which has been lost.

This study, carried out in 2008, then again in 2015, proved once and for all that spending time in nature provided all kinds of cognitive benefits, including overcoming mental blocks. Participants were given tests on memory, alertness, mental wellbeing and other types of cognitive functions. They were then split into groups and sent on two separate walks. Some walked in an urban environment while the others were sent to a natural area.

When the participants returned, they were tested again. Those who walked in nature showed an impressive increase in all their previous results, especially memory and general mental health. In a second experiment, participants were only shown photographs of natural or urban landscapes. Still, the results were the same.

These studies ultimately proved that nature can help us overcome mental blocks. If you’re struggling to locate a memory or focus on some studying, you could try spending time outside (or even just looking at pictures if you don’t have time).


Exercise
Another old wives’ tale has always told us that exercising will help us overcome our mental blocks. Science has now proven that to be true. A study by the University of British Columbia investigated whether exercising really does improve cognitive functioning, and by association, help us overcome mental blocks.

Their experiments showed that regular aerobic exercise actually boosts the size of the hippocampus – a part of the brain responsible for our verbal memory and learning. Exercises like strength training and balance didn’t yield the same results. In order to reap the benefits, you have to get your heart pounding and your body sweating!

The study concluded that there are both direct and indirect ways that exercise helps us to overcome mental blocks. Aerobic exercises have direct health benefits on the brain. These include reducing inflammation and stimulating the release of chemicals that affect the health of current brain cells and the growth of new ones.

More blood flow and healthy brain cells definitely aid us in overcoming mental blocks. Indirectly, exercising reduces stress and tension, improves our mood and helps us to sleep better. All these things contribute to clearer thinking and less confusing brain fog.

This exercise can be as simple as going for a walk (consider it being in nature too for a double whammy) or even cleaning. Anything that gets your heart rate higher than usual will ultimately help you to overcome those tedious mental blocks.


Napping
Finally, snoozing in the day has been recognized as beneficial, instead of just “lazy”. Science has now proven that taking a nap during the day can, in fact, help you overcome your mental blocks.

Research from the Weill Cornell Medical College has shown that napping can improve our overall cognitive functioning. They studied the results of several experiments that looked into the effects of napping on thinking, processing, and mental blocks.

In all the experiments, the participants were tested using monitors while they slept, as well as mental tests after they woke. These psychological tests included reaction times and vigilance. No matter the method, the results were always the same. Napping improved their cognitive abilities and helped them think clearer and learn faster.

Now, this strategy is still in the early stages of experiments, but it’s one I firmly agree with. The skeptics question the benefits of long naps due to the grogginess and confusion we feel when we first wake up. This is known as sleep inertia.

Some advocate for shorter naps as they show better cognitive results immediately after waking. They assume this makes it easier to get over mental blocks. However, overall studies show that the length of the nap didn’t matter. There was no difference seen in the results once a delay was given for the sleep inertia to fade.

So, next time you’re feeling blocked and can’t seem to overcome it, try packing it all in and taking a midday nap instead!

Nature Restoration Group – Structurally Speaking, The Vision of How to Self Organize

Twelve years ago I was living in the Rocky Mountains spending a lot of time in nature amongst the red dirt and the pine trees.  I began to get messages or images in my head of ways to live harmoniously on planet Earth.  To this day I have a hard time distinguishing between knowing if this information was given to me as a way to live here on this planet or a remembrance of how I lived before or both.  The information sent is quite detailed and layered and can be hard to verbalize, this gave birth to what is being referred to as the bubble plan. 
When I joined the Nature’s Restoration group I listened to desires of the group and what they wanted to achieve.  I found it serendipitous, I saw each person as a head of a section or bubble.  We each came to the table with a different passion and I began to see how those passion intertwined into the big picture of our ultimate goal, then I saw how the bubbles connect. My vision board happened to be right next to me, my husband and I do a vision board every year and I also remembered my downloads.  When we do our vision board we look at the one from the previous year take off what we have accomplished and keep what we are still working on.  For many years now there is a section of our vision board set aside for our big project, our master vision.  The bubble plan was a way for me to share that big vision and to break it down, to keep it simple, to start with the basics. Also to task everyone to a section, to a bubble, so that we work more efficiently by utilizing what each volunteer is passionate about and experienced in. 
Someday I will acquire the financial means necessary to build my vision here on planet Earth, in the mean time I want to share with others and learn from the those who are already living this lifestyle.  The bubble plan is a network of actions that change the way we participate in life on our planet. It is a web diagram showing the interconnectedness of our lives and how our daily choices effect not only the planet but the inhabitants of it as well.  My wish is that it shows that you can easily affect your environment in a positive manor by changing what you value and then becoming more aware of your choices.  With so many negative impacts destroying our planet, the animal kingdom, the human race and ultimately our universe, we can become overwhelmed with the process of stopping it.  I would like to show that daily steps can achieve our goal of climbing this mountain of change and then strolling down the other side in harmony with planet Earth.

The Hidden Dangers of Always Being “Too Nice”.

You feel the pressure throb in your veins. A lump rises in your throat as your colleagues watch you closely. They are expecting an answer. They are expecting you to comply. Every fibre of your being wants to scream “NO I CAN’T.” But as if possessed, you automatically smile sweetly and say, “Yes, I’ll do it, thanks for asking.”
WTF is going on here?! Why can’t you just say “no,” and walk away?
If you’re like me, people-pleasing has run havoc in your life. It has crushed your spirit repeatedly. It has robbed you of peace of mind, personal empowerment and the courage to follow your goals and dreams. It has hit you while you’re down and dragged you through the dirt. It might have also contributed to chronic issues in your life such as anxiety disorders, depression, addiction or co-dependency.
So what exactly is people-pleasing … and how can we heal the root cause of it?
16 Habits of People-Pleasing Personality Types
At some point or another, we have all struggled with people-pleasing. After all, as social creatures, we are prone to peer pressure and the desire to fit in. But there is a big difference between the desire for acceptance and people-pleasing. People-pleasing is not just a once-in-a-while foible: it’s a daily struggle.
Here are 16 common habits:
  • You struggle to say “no”
  • You find it hard to be assertive and voice your opinions
  • You’re hyper-vigilant about perceived rejection from others (always on the lookout)
  • You’re an emotophobe (you fear negative emotions)
  • You’re excessively altruistic/philanthropic
  • You often suffer at the expense of doing a favor for others
  • You have a weak sense of self and poor interpersonal boundaries
  • You become emotionally dependent/co-dependent when in relationships/friendships
  • You’re addicted to approval from others
  • You have a neurotic desire to be liked no matter what
  • You feel shattered for days or weeks when someone criticises you
  • You have low self-worth
  • You act based on what “other people think” of you
  • You always put yourself in other’s shoes, but you rarely show compassion towards yourself
  • You blindly believe in other people’s “goodness” even if they are clearly abusive towards you
  • You fear losing control of yourself because you repress so much
It’s also said that people-pleasing can form a bridge to other conditions such as borderline personality disorder and social anxiety disorder.

Why Being “Too Nice” Can Be Dangerous

Obviously there is nothing wrong with being nice. But having the neurotic desire to be nice is dangerous for a number of reasons. Here’s why:

1. You suppress A LOT of emotion

Inevitably, wanting to be loved and needed by others all the time results in suppressing tons of uncomfortable emotions. I’m talking rage, hatred, bitterness, annoyance, grief and stress — anything that is contrary to the altruistic image you crave to portray. You might not be conscious of repressing these types of emotions, but rest assured, it comes with the job description. You can’t give yourself entirely to other people, deny yourself, and expect to feel fine and dandy in the longterm.
Suppression of emotions eventually results in physical or psychological breakdowns. Many chronic mental and physical illnesses are fuelled by the neurotic desire to please others.

2. Extreme pressure to “keep up appearances”

One of the worst things about constantly being nice is the extreme pressure you feel to constantly maintain your self-image. It feels good constantly being on people’s “good” sides. It feels good to avoid negative feelings and get the spotlight for being a saint. But this addiction comes at a price: chronic stress. Often that stress is imperceptible, but it’s always there, always demanding that you keep your mask strapped on even though it might be suffocating you.

3. People use you

When you’re a people-pleaser you open yourself up to abuse. Narcissists, energy vampires, bullies and other types of wounded people are drawn to you like fresh meat. Having weak boundaries, low self-esteem and the insatiable desire to please makes you the perfect “use and abuse” target. And unconsciously, you like feeling needed and wanted, so you unwittingly continue the toxic cycle.
It’s just like what the famous Eurythmics song “Sweet dreams are made of this” says: “Everybody’s looking for something. Some of them want to use you. Some of them want to get used by you. Some of them want to abuse you. Some of them want to be abused …”

4. You have the intense need to be in control

At first, people-pleasing might come across as a selfless act. But people-pleasing is actually a selfish act because you’re trying to control someone else’s reaction towards you by behaving in a certain way.
In fact, people-pleasing is more about the desire to be in control than it is to please other people. Wanting to be liked by others is just a symptom of the desire to be in control because deep down you feel powerless or worthless. This is why people-pleasing is so exhausting — it goes against the flow of life, and takes so much effort to maintain.

5. No one really knows the “true” you

Keeping so much locked inside of you for fear of being disapproved of makes you extremely guarded. In fact, if you’re a people-pleaser you might fear for instance, getting drunk, because all of the secret thoughts and opinions you have might come to the surface. In other words, you’ll no longer be in control of yourself.
When you’re a people-pleaser no one really knows the “true” and authentic you — they only know the facade that you present them with. Unfortunately, this desire to be loved and approved often backfires, making you feel more lonely and disconnected as time goes on. Eventually, you wind up feeling “invisible” and “unseen,” even if you are constantly in the spotlight.

How to Stop Being a People-Pleaser

Naturally you might be wondering right now, “What can I do to stop this?”
Let me tell you, there is so much bad advice out there. And the solution to overcoming this addiction (because it is), is NOT pulling the middle finger at everyone.
I don’t condone the “fuck you” approach because it’s immature and reactive.
Instead, I recommend the harder-but-wiser approach of:

As someone who has struggled with a people-pleasing personality (Enneagram 9 INFJ by the way), I know how self-destructive this trait can be. Because of this need to be accepted by others, I have suffered intense periods of anxiety and chronic pain, not to mention tons of repressed emotions for years.
But the first step to overcoming this problem is to shift your focal point from the outside world, to the inside world. Eventually, with time and practice utilizing the points above, you will be able to say sincerely and openly “I am enough unto myself” as I now can.

3 Ways to Experience “Dadirri” in Nature.

Dadirri. It is inner, deep listening and quiet, still awareness. Dadirri recognizes the deep spring that is inside us. We call on it and it calls to us … When I experience dadirri, I am made whole again. I can sit on the riverbank or walk through the trees; even if someone close to me has passed away, I can find my peace in this silent awareness.

When I am out hunting, when I am in the bush, among the trees, on a hill or by a billabong; these are the times when I can simply be in God’s presence. My people have been so aware of Nature. Ever since I learned the meaning of the word dadirri in a conversation I was having with an Australian aboriginal friend of mine, I immediately fell in love with its significance. I was teaching him about ‘Pachamama‘ (what we call mother nature in Quechua) and other of my indigenous ways of looking at the world, while he was teaching me about his.
Nature is one of the best healing and teaching environments that has been used by every indigenous culture to reconnect with God, or with the Divine. In a time where we are so materialistically centered, it is unsurprising that we often take for granted a gift that is so freely available.
It’s easy to forget that we don’t own nature, but we are a part of it.

Why We Must Reconnect With Nature

I travel into nature every free opportunity that I have so I can be alone, heal, revitalize and re-energize my powers, to reconnect with my initiation commitments, to converse with natural spirit allies and helpers, to be inspired and to generally fill myself with the connection to “All there is that is sacred”, so that I can come back to my life with more strength, power and balance.
In our densely populated world with its sprawling cities everywhere, it is often difficult to find an accessible place in nature to reconnect with. But in my experience to develop inner balance, and thus survive as a species, we must change our relationship with nature, reconnect with it and redefine our place within it.
Modern science is agreeing more and more with the notion that our dissociation from nature is extremely harmful to our psyche and to our individual and collective development. Bill Plotkin, an eco-psychologist who has worked with people in the wild for over 20 years, writes in his book Nature and The Human Soul:
… healthy human development requires a constant balancing of the influences and demands of both nature and culture … By suppressing the nature dimension of human development … industrial growth society engenders an immature citizenry unable to imagine a life beyond consumerism and soul-suppressing jobs.
There are three main reasons why I see we should immerse ourselves more into nature:
1. Artificial Lives: Most of our days are spent in artificial environments that have no living energy or ‘spirit’. We work and live in buildings made from bricks, and rooms illuminated by artificial lighting, we stare at artificial screens 5 to 6 hours of our waking time, and are surrounded by artificial noises and sounds from messages, emails, calls, apps and video games. This results in an over-stimulated mind and under-stimulated senses, all of which disconnect us from ourselves.
2. Reflects Our Souls: Our soul is that wild energy that vibrates in all that is living. When we are in nature, we are instinctively able to connect with these deeper aspects of ourselves, to explore our natural selves, and to find peacefulness and wisdom through inner-balance.
3. Species Survival: Unless we learn to reconnect with the natural world, respect her laws and appreciate the air we breath, the food we eat, the water we drink thanks to her, our survival as a species is doubtful. The way we treat nature serves as a great reflection on our level of conscious development. If we destroy nature, we suffer much more than she does. We as a species depend on her; she doesn’t depend on us. Eventually, with enough time she can heal any wounds we inflict on her, but we can never heal our own species’ extinction.

3 Ways We Can Reconnect With Nature

My experience has taught me that trying to make someone environmentally aware is just as ineffective as trying to make someone animal cruelty aware.
The whole PETA approach of “Meat is Murder” to shock and enrage publicity, and the guilt tripping approach of: “You’re no better than a mass murderer! Your eating habits are revolting and evil!! Join us!” portrays vegans and vegetarians as being subverts, accusers, haters, which often does nothing but repel and scare many people away from even considering a change in their eating habits.
So, instead of following the demands to “take care of nature”, why don’t we take the time to immerse ourselves in the natural world and experience all the physical and mental benefits it can provide us? It is hard to take care of something you have developed no respect for.
These are some of the suggestions I offer our students to help them reconnect with nature:
1. Educated awareness: We live in an age where being environmentally friendly is associated with being a hippy, hipster, tree-hugger or eco-freak. Caring for the environment is somehow thought of as being stupid or uncool. Mostly this comes from the lack of education we provide to teach children and adults of the many benefits they can experience from immersing themselves in the wilderness. The first step is to develop a vibrant knowledge and understanding of the subject.
2. Become an exhibitionist: We often think of nature as a one-sided relationship, or in other words: that we simply go into nature to look at it. But have you ever thought that Nature also experiences you? ‘Pachamama’ as we call her, is very aware of the presence and energy that you bring into her environment. A fun exercise to try is going into nature with a piece of paper and pencil; sitting down, closing your eyes for however long you wish, and concentrating on your breathing, imagining that Mother Nature is watching you all around. Once you’re done, open your eyes and write down your experience, the thoughts that popped into your head and the feelings. You’ll be surprised what she can inspire in you.
3. Experience nature with intent: A good way to practice dadirri is going to a park or nature walk, and experience nature with intent. To do this, dedicate the first five minutes of your walk to noting all the sounds you hear. You then dedicate the next five minutes to experiencing or feeling the sensations produced by the wind, warmth of the sun, coolness of the rain, or even by extending your hand so you can touch the trees as you walk by. The next five minutes try to notice all the trees and plants, as well as all the wildlife you can find. And finally, the last few minutes can be dedicated to becoming aware of your connection with the earth, by experiencing how your feet firmly touch the ground with every step.
Intuitively, we all know the value of nature. When we imagine a calm and relaxing place, a place to escape from the business of the modern world, for example, most of us imagine a sanctuary in nature. I hope this article helps you get back in touch with our oldest friend.
